Potential Bets for 10/28/24
Another sports Equinox, this time a full pro sports equinox, another chance to redeem ourselves in a bit of stories that is really starting to show how much I am unaware of everything in sports. Potential bets for Monday, lets do it.
Dodgers (+130) at Yankees (-155, -1.5). Over/Under: 8.5
Split on this one, honestly. My heart is telling me Yankees because even when I don’t care about the two teams, I want a good series. My head is telling me the Dodgers are plus money right now, and that is very hard to turn down. However, I do think New York pulls this one out. They need this game. There is no coming back from a 3-0 deficit against this Dodgers squad, and if they want to avoid a crushing sweep in the World Series, they need to win tonight. Schmidt does have the edge over Walker Buehler when it comes to the pitching matchup, and coming back home I think this Yankees lineup finds a way to get it done early in the game and set up a pivotal game 4 tomorrow in the Bronx.
Pick: Yankees -1.5
Maple Leaves(-105) at Jets (-115, -1.5). Over/Under: 6.5
I don’t know what Vegas is seeing in Toronto in this game. I guess it could be a matchup of Canada vs Canada, and they are thinking those rivalries will be close, which I will listen to. This game is in Winnipeg, though, and the Jets are the hottest teams in the NHL right now. They are 8-0-0 with 16 points. They haven’t lost a game in regulation, or at all for that matter. I think Toronto is in a spot where they need to start winning some of these games if they truly want to compete for the East title, but I also don’t think many people honestly expect them to be in that hunt in the first place. I think Winnipeg is poised to make a run for the cup, and I think that they keep their train rolling with great goaltending by Hellebuyck. I think this is a low-scoring game, but the Jets win, and they cover the -1.5 goalline spread.
Pick: Jets -1.5 and Under.
Giants (+225) at Steelers (-6). Over/Under: 36.5
Why do I feel like the under is hitting in this game, too? I think that this is going to be a one-sided game for the most part, the Steelers should honestly win and cover. The Giants are not a great football team, and although I don’t think the Steelers necessarily are either, they are at two different places for their franchises, though. While the Giants need a full teardown and rebuild, the Steelers reloaded and have played decent football despite the somewhat questionable quarterback play. In my eyes it is a testament as to why Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin truly is, and his ability to be able to work with anything that the Front Office gives him. I honestly believe he should have a job in Pittsburgh until he wants to retire, and that he is one of the best coaches that is not talked about in the NFL today. I think the combination of coaching, players, fan noise, and all other combining factors is to much for the Giants, who I do not think will be able to move the ball much at all.
Pick: Steelers -6 and Under
Rockets (-2.5) at Spurs (+115). Over/Under: 218.5
I honestly really like the Spurs here. The Spurs may not be the best team yet, but they already have a superstar in Victor Wembanyama. His ability to go ballistic in a game scares me, and it makes me hate going against the Spurs at any time. I think that this is one of those times he proves that he is the best upcoming star in the league, and he drags San Antonio to a victory. Rivalry game with the biggest young superstar on the underdog? Sign me up for that money as quickly as I can grab it. This is a bet I am a bit worried about, but I love the way Wemby plays, and I think that he is truly going to start showing how special of a talent he is this year. I have learned the hard way not to even look at Over/Unders in the NBA because it is so hard to guess who is going to get hot or not (I saw as I just said Wemby is going to go ballistic tonight).
Pick: Spurs Moneyline
Pick of the day/ Potential Parlay
I think the pick of the day today is going to be the Under in the Giants at Steelers games. While both offenses have some pieces, I do not expect this to be a high-scoring game at all, with quarterback play from two at this moment very underwhelming quarterbacks. I think the defenses are going to show out and show that they are the true biggest threats of both of these teams, and that will be at the offense’s expense. A potential parlay of the day would be a parlay with the under for the Giants and Steelers, with the Yankees spread at -1.5 and the Jets spread at -1.5. This would give you +1299 odds (from Bovada as I currently write this) and I think has a solid chance of actually hitting.
