Potential Bets for 10/25/24

Last night was a rough one. The only bet we hit was Timberwolves -1.5, Kyle Mccord threw 3 interceptions in the first half, two of which were returned for Pick-Sixes and Pittsburgh ran away with the game early, while the Vikings had the ball in their drive to tie the game, Darnold got sacked with a clear facemask that refs did not call, and the Avalanche won, but the goal line was null because they won in Overtime. It happens. The best thing is that we got a sports Equinox today to make up for the whole dang thing, and we’re going 1 bet in each sport.

Yankees(+130) at Dodgers (-110)

For the first time in a long time, I don’t care about the World Series. It’s two of the top three payrolls in baseball duking it out in a major money matchup. It reminds me a lot of Golden State and Cleveland for the NBA in the mid-2010s, and I honestly understand what people who disliked the Warriors and Cavs went through during those years. I’m just not excited about it personally. It won’t stop me from betting on it, though. While the pitching matchup heavily favors New York, with the Yankees throwing Gerrit Cole as compared to the Dodger’s Jack Flaherty, the Dodgers lineup overall is a metaphorical meat grinder for pitchers. No matter what part of the order, this lineup can take you deep in a count or jump on the first pitch for a home run. A combination of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and course, the Unicorn himself, Shohei Ohtani I think will be too much for the Yankees pitching staff on the road tonight. The Dodgers will find a way to get to the bullpen late, a weak spot for the Yankees blowing 2 leads in Cleveland in the ALCS, although fortunately, they ended up winning one of those games.

Pick: Dodgers -110

BYU (+115) @ Central Florida (-2.5)

I am breaking my own rule and putting a game for tomorrow on today’s picks, and I’ll just make my pick for today’s game a quick thing at the bottom of this section. Hammer BYU Moneyline. UCF’s running game is their biggest threat, and while I love the way RJ Harvey runs, we are not dealing with Ashton Jeanty. He can be stopped, and I think BYU’s front 7 will find a way to contain him. While BYU has struggled the past few weeks, and the bounce house is a tough spot to go into and win, it’s not impossible, and I think BYU comes away with at least a 7-point victory in this game, one they need to stay atop the Big 12. I don’t think there is any way that BYU should be dogs in this game, and I think that they are being very disrespected by Vegas right now.

In terms of tonight’s games, I would take Boise State -3.5 over UNLV. I like UNLV as a team. I just think Ashton Jeanty is a once-in-a-generation running back, and I think he is going to show why he is in the top two of Heisman's frontrunners tonight.

Pick: BYU Moneyline for Saturday, Boise State Spread at -3.5 tonight

Warriors(-5.5) at Jazz (+175)

Steph and Draymond are both available tonight, I really like the Warriors spread here. I think Steph is going to have an outburst of scoring and that the Warriors continue to prove that they are one of their deepest units since 2015. Utah is an upcoming team, and Lauri Markennen is always a guy you need to watch out for in terms of his impact on the game, but I think that defensively Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins can contain him on the inside, with some help from second-year Center Trayce Jackson-Davis. I don’t think that the Jazz have enough firepower to keep up with the Warriors theoretically, and I like Golden State in this game by around 7 points

Pick: Warriors -5.5

Penguins(+190) at Oilers (-225)

Shockingly, I am taking the Oilers to win this game. However, taking their money line doesn’t have a lot of value, so I will take the spread at -1.5. I think the Oilers are more than good enough of a team to cover what is a rebuilding Penguins team when they are at home, and I think the Oilers bounce back from their slow start and score 4+ goals tonight.

Pick: Oilers -1.5

No pick or Parlay or the night. Tonights a bounce back night to gain some confidence.
